Can I search by specific features, such as location, rent or room size?
You certainly can. Above your search results, you will find a button with different filters. On the homepage, you can also already filter by price and location.

Can MyKot provide me with a room?
MyKot only facilitates the website and not the buildings or rooms.
You'll have to search for your own rooms on this website and contact the landlord in case you find the room that fits your needs.

How can I refine my search results?

What is the difference between a room, room+ and studio?
There are 4 kot types on MyKot:
Room: standard room with washbasin
Room+: room with private shower
Studio: room with private bathroom and kitchenette
Appartement: more spacious residence, where the bedroom is separated from the living area.

What language does the landlord speak?
Every landlord lists the preferred language. Keep that in mind, that way you won't get any surprises.

Contact with landlord

I am having problems with my landlord. What now?

The landlord chooses how quickly and frequently he replies to messages. If it takes too long, contact a landlord from another student room that meets your requirements.

Prepare a contract

How will my contract be drawn up?
Your landlord can easily draw up your contract via MyKot. Via chat, you receive a message to complete your account. As soon as your details are correct, they will be added to the contract. Please note that it is still necessary to sign your contract manually. This is not done via MyKot.

What is the MyKot model contract?
In 2023, Brik and PLE created a new model contract largely inspired by the Brussels student-housing rental agreement. And with that, Brik and PLE want to guarantee affordability, provide clarity about contracts that expire and maintain the balance between the landlord renting out the property and the student tenant.

Only student rooms that comply with all regulations are listed on MyKot. Every landlord who rents out their property via MyKot works with the MyKot model contract. This means you’re certain everything appearing in the contract is legal and that in the case of problems, you have the right to free mediation through the organisation behind MyKot.

The model contract is a reference document, but mandatory for all users of MyKot. However, some provisions are not essential, so deviations are possible. Be sure to contact Brik or PLE before making any changes.
